| Mission Statement
The New York & New Jersey Minority Supplier Development Council, Inc. (The Council), a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization, identifies minority suppliers; certifies bona-fide minority business enterprises; and facilitates procurement opportunities between Corporate America and Council-certified minority suppliers. That supplier group includes Asian Indian-American, Asian Pacific-American, African-American, Hispanic-American and Native-American businesses located throughout downstate New York (Albany and below) and Northern and Central New Jersey including Trenton. The Council's membership consists of Fortune 500 corporations, government agencies and educational institutions. The Council strives to expand business opportunities for minority-owned suppliers by linking them with purchasers in the public and private sector. As an advocate for both its suppliers and corporate members, The Council fosters relationships between corporate decision makers and targeted minority suppliers. (The Council), established in 1973 is a vital link between major corporations and minority business enterprises (MBEs). Each year, member corporations have reported billions of dollars spent with Council-certified Minority Business Enterprises. Serving the New York and New Jersey region, The Council is one of the 39 regional affiliates of the National Minority Supplier Development Council, Inc. (NMSDC). The Council encourages its membership of Fortune 500 companies, government agencies and educational institutions, to include MBEs as their regular suppliers of products, goods and services. Through its MBE certification program, The Council links a myriad of businesses for local and global impact. CONTACT DORA REDDICK Purpose The Council aggressively seeks viable minority suppliers for procurement opportunities with its corporate membership. The Council enables corporations to diversify their base of competitive suppliers. This “linkage process” increases opportunities for Council-certified suppliers and helps facilitate employment and economic development.
